Northern Ireland Manager, Alliance for Useful Evidence
Peter was the Northern Ireland lead for the Alliance for Useful Evidence. The Alliance for Useful Evidence is an open access network of more than 3,000 individuals from across government, universities, charities, business and local authorities.
Peter has over 30 years' expertise in strategic planning, marketing, policy work, research, public affairs and media management. A former Director of NUS-USI, his work with the student movement was recognised by the conferring of a lifetime achievement award by the National Union Students – only the third such recipient in its history. He was also Chief Executive of the Northern Ireland Human Rights Commission and Policy Officer with Housing Rights Service. More recently he contributed to a government taskforce on Promoting Social Inclusion and established the first private tenants’ organisation in Northern Ireland.
His qualifications include LLM in Human Rights Law and MSSc European Studies. In his spare time he founded and acts as Director of the annual Belfast Comedy Festival. He also established and programmes the Imagine! Belfast Festival of Ideas & Politics which takes place every March.
