Junior Data Scientist, Data Analytics Practice
Julia was a junior data scientist in the sustainable future mission team. She developed solutions for reducing carbon emissions and increasing productivity in the UK.
Prior to joining Nesta, Julia worked as an academic researcher in the field of natural language processing. In her favourite project, she developed a system for automatically simplifying texts by reducing the syntactic complexity, aiming to make them more accessible for people with low literacy skills or learning disabilities. This sparked her interest in technology for social good. Her aspiration is to utilise her skills as a programmer and her knowledge of linguistics and languages to improve communication among people as well as between human and machine.
Julia holds a bachelor's and Master degree in Computational Linguistics/Natural Language Processing from the University of Zurich, Switzerland and the University of Heidelberg, Germany.
