These two publications from Nesta’s People Powered Results Team capture our experience and learning from the past decade of working in partnership with places across the UK, to release the power of people to drive systemic change.
Over a period of ten years, People Powered Results pioneered new approaches to achieving change and innovation in systems, working with over 500 local and national organisations to create the conditions and cultures required to rapidly adopt new innovations and scale what works. As the team began to wind down their activities in early 2023, they produced two publications to share their experience, knowledge and practical tools with the world and to support others to continue growing the people powered movement.
- People Powered Results: Reflections on 10 years of People Power in Action tells the story of Nesta’s People Powered Results (PPR) team and what we learned over a decade of working in partnership with places across the UK to release the power of people to drive systemic change.
- The Playbook for People Power is a practical guide for everyone interested in trying out and growing people powered approaches, whether in a neighbourhood, organisation or across local and national systems.
The report contains:
- background to the work of People Powered Results including the principles and conditions that underpin their work with systems
- a snapshot of the impact People Powered Results has achieved in health systems across England
- stories of people powered change in systems and places – showcasing the methods used by the team to put people at the heart of change in systems
- an introduction to the people behind the work.
The playbook contains:
- an introduction to the principles for people power and the conditions to bring people power to life, which formed the foundations of the PPR approach to working in partnership with places across the UK
- a guide to three people powered methods, for people who are interested in listening to and learning from communities, developing new strategies and experimenting with new ideas and ways of working
- a toolkit packed with frameworks and activities to help support the delivery of people powered change.
