About Nesta

Nesta is an innovation foundation. For us, innovation means turning bold ideas into reality and changing lives for the better. We use our expertise, skills and funding in areas where there are big challenges facing society.

Figurative, previously called Arts and Culture Finance, was founded as a dedicated unit within Nesta, and in 2024 merged with New Philanthropy for Arts & Culture to become an independent not-for-profit dedicated to impact, investment and innovation in the cultural and creative sector.

They support social impact investment to support arts and cultural organisations that benefit the lives of individuals, communities and society through their work. Figurative believes arts and culture play an essential role in our everyday lives, recognising its power to drive growth for the economy, transform people’s lives and be an instrument of social change.

Figurative is committed to develop innovative programmes that encourage organisations and creatives to experiment with new ways of harnessing digital technology in the cultural sphere. The organisation will continue to pioneer impact investment work, including managing its legacy projects: the Arts Impact Fund, the Cultural Impact Development Fund and the Arts & Culture Impact Fund.
