Frontline is a charity that aims to transform the lives of vulnerable children by training outstanding individuals to become social workers.

Frontline was set up in March 2013 by its Chief Executive Josh MacAlister, a former teacher who worked in challenging schools in Greater Manchester. Through his experience of working with vulnerable children, he recognised that there was increasing demand for well-trained social workers.

Following consultation with children and young people, practitioners and local authorities the charity designed a new approach to preparing people for social work.

It aims to equip social workers with the skills to bring about family change, and teaching intervention techniques forms part of its intensive two-year practical and academic training programme. Students on the course receive a paid bursary and can also obtain a Master’s degree as well as a social work qualification.

Frontline’s course, led by the University of Bedfordshire, the Institute of Family Therapy, the Institute of Psychiatry at King’s College London and a range of other experts, has proven to be remakably popular with 2,600 people applying for the 100 places on the course.
