About Nesta

Nesta is an innovation foundation. For us, innovation means turning bold ideas into reality and changing lives for the better. We use our expertise, skills and funding in areas where there are big challenges facing society.

What’s the big idea?

Rewired Reality is a hack day and prototyping service that connects organisations and digital innovators.

The win-win service gives digital innovators commercial experience while creating prototype products for companies of all sizes, who save on time and costs.

Why we like Emma

Emma Mulqueeny is a resourceful tech entrepreneur building open networks to bring developers and small businesses together.

She founded Rewired Reality to bridge the gap between developers and organisations, such as startups, social enterprises and charities, that don’t have the resources or funds to employ in-house coders.

Rewired Reality draws on two of Emma’s other successful projects: Rewired State, the largest network of independent software developers and designers in the UK; and Young Rewired State, the only network of under-18 programmers in the UK.

Emma has been working in IT since 1997 and is a well-known tech education campaigner. She wrote for The Guardian’s Developer Network and worked on its Open Platform project. She also served on the executive committee of the British Interactive Media Association (BIMA).
