Interventions that support families during the early years have the power to transform children’s lives. Evidence-based parenting interventions are proven to boost children’s long-term prospects — improving educational outcomes, employment opportunities and overall health.

However, despite this potential, scaling these interventions across the UK remains a challenge. At a time when progress on closing the school readiness gap has stalled, this is an important moment to share our knowledge on barriers and opportunities for delivering effective parenting interventions at scale.

Nesta and Foundations convened leading voices from across the early-years sector to explore how we can work collaboratively to increase momentum on implementing effective parenting interventions in the UK.

This workshop offered a unique opportunity for local authorities, academics, funders, policymakers, civil servants, and children's charities to come together to discuss:

  • Creating a shared vision for using evidence to drive effective parenting support in the UK.
  • Tackling barriers to building evidence and using evidence at scale.
  • Collaborating to create the conditions for implementing evidence-based parenting support.
