On the 18th of September, Nesta hosted the Inventor Prize Awards to celebrate the achievements of the 10 Inventor Prize finalists, showcase their fantastic and innovative products, and announce the winner of the £50,000 Inventor Prize, alongside two recognition awards.
The Inventor Prize was delivered by Nesta as a pilot programme, funded by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy. Launched in August 2017, it aimed to discover the UK’s best 'hidden inventors' and support the development of innovative products that will have a positive impact on the lives of others.
After receiving over 180 applications from across the UK, our 10 finalists were selected by a panel of expert judges to receive a £5,000 grant and expert non-financial support from Barclays Eagle Labs to develop their prototype and business plan.
The event brought together the inventors, funders and partners of the prize, and any organisations or investors who could be of support to the inventors in their next steps.
