Nesta hosted an evening debate on how digital technologies are fundamentally changing patient care, in conversation with Sherry Coutu, co-chair of Silicon Valley Comes to the UK and serial entrepreneur turned investor. Sarah Haywood, Head of Life Sciences for London and Partners and joint lead for MedCity, also joined the discussion.

The event related to our paper, Refilling the Innovator’s Prescription, which looks at the potential of digital devices and data science in healthcare. The report uses research based on interviews with entrepreneurs at the 2013 Silicon Valley Comes to the UK event and other experts in the field.

Cutting edge technologies are already changing the relationship between patients and doctors. This new paper develops a picture of the future of healthcare where these innovations become the norm.

At this event, we discussed which features of the healthcare sector affect how it is disrupted by digital technology, where new medical innovations will emerge from, and what a London MedCity initiative might learn from TechCity.
