Purpose and UpRising have created this guide to provide young people in Birmingham and beyond with the tools and resources to help create, share and inspire social change.
This guide has been published as part of Purpose and UpRising’s project: Online Democratic Platforms for Young People, which we are supporting through our Destination Local programme.
In their work with young people, Purpose and UpRising have identified digital storytelling and digital platforms, such as social media platforms, to be a powerful tool for young people to engage with local decision makers.
This guide was created to provide young people in Birmingham and beyond with the tools and resources to help create, share and inspire social change.
Key findings:
- to mobilse people to change you need a social action narrative
- digital story telling is a powerful tool because it lets us amplify voices, connect with others, reach more people, have greater impact and do it quicker, and inspire others to take action both online and offline
- to create a plan for impacting change, you'll want to determine: goals, context, target, allies, tactics
- one of the best ways to track progress is to keep a project diary on things you can measure directly, i.e. numbers, and reflect on things you can’t.
