Matched crowdfunding for the arts and heritage sectors: Case studies and top tips from projects

In November, we opened the UK’s first matched crowdfunding pilot for arts and heritage projects, in partnership with Arts Council England, Heritage Lottery Fund and the Department for Culture Media and Sport.

The programme has now come to an end, with Arts Council England and Heritage Lottery Fund match funding 54 projects through the pilot.

In the case studies below, we speak to the people behind some of the projects that received match funding, from the RRS Discovery ship restoration project in Dundee, to a new immersive opera performed in South London. We examine what they have learned about crowdfunding, what it takes to run a good campaign and what they are doing next with their projects.

If you are interested in exploring the full range of projects that were awarded match funding, you can see all succesfull arts campaigns here and successful heritage campaigns here.
